SERCOGEST, a client relations specialist, currently located in Puteaux near Paris, and a leader in the natural health market, has selected Wasquehal for its new headquarters. By June 2015, Sercogest will have new offices of 360 m² and is planning to add 50 new jobs by 2016.
Sercogest is a fast-growing customer service center that manages client relations for natural health-related publications and high-end food supplements. Sercogest has recruited 30 people within the last five months.
These two markets are undergoing strong growth, says Jan Laarman, General Manager for Sercogest, we need the room to be able to follow along with our clients’ growth.
The diversity and quality of the Lille area’s labor pool
Located in the Paris Défense business district since 2013, the company wanted to move to an environment that was more closely aligned with its industry. The business focused on the Lille metro area which was already familiar to Laarman, who is originally from Wasquehal. Several factors played a decisive role: rents 50% less expensive than those in Paris, an environment very favorable to the customer service industry, and, most importantly, hiring that is made easier by the diversity and quality of the Lille area’s labor pool.
To join the company, candidates must show that they are successful at in-person client relations and would like to make a career change. Having a specific degree is only a secondary requirement during the recruiting process. Jan Laarman states, “It is the candidate’s personality that counts.”

The company is currently hiring. Two training sessions are planned for mid-July and mid-August in Sercogest’s own training center which is also being relocated. New hires will spend two weeks learning about the company’s computer systems, how to process calls and how to advise individual customers on the innovative products that they are looking for.
It was with the help of Lille’s agency and other local partners that Jan Laarman undertook the relocation of his company. The company will officially begin operating from the Lille region on July 13, 2015. Laarman adds: “I have been struck by the positive energy of the candidates that we have contacted. We are going to create a successful future together.”
