What if I, the city of Lille, was rated No.1 in France in 2014?
Lyon, Bordeaux, Lille (yours truly), Marseille, Toulouse and other French cities regularly compete in the national rankings, as witnessed in the latest study by L’Expansion-L’Entreprise and Coface Services published in October 2013. Title: “Le palmarès des villes les plus business-friendly ” (France’s most business-friendly cities)
Ranked 4th today, one of my dearest wishes for 2014 is to be named the top French metropolitan area, thanks to my ambitious temperament and dynamic personality.
Numerous studies – such as “Innovation cities”, “European smart cities”, “Cities where it’s good to live”, “Favourite cities for students” – increase my international visibility and reinforce my attractiveness as a place for business and tourism.
One of the strategic priorities for the coming years, backed by the territory’s actors and the Lille’s Agency, a consulting firm that assists companies with their development plans, is to help me climb up the international rankings in order to become “the strategic place to be” in France!
Aware that fame and influence are won through the talents and energy of the networks in place, I can count on numerous business leaders and entrepreneurs in my territory. They know how to work together and bring to fruition innovative projects and business opportunities. They all concur that I am a land of connections and encounters.
Olivier Kadjata, business manager at Hazgo (a Belgian company), admits to being pleasantly surprised: “I knew Lille, having gone there many times for business purposes. It is a densely populated and comfortable city, but when I opened offices in Lille I had no idea that it was so economically dynamic and that the Lille people had such ambition.”
For 2014, one of the big challenges taken up by Lille’s Agency will be to enrich these international networks, to identify new business development projects, to broaden the field of Lille supporters and find new ambassadors for the city.
These actions will be led by the 18 members of Lille’s Agency, who remain my steady support, and who above all will remain by your side for your international projects.
