The Alliances network has defined Corporate social responsibility (CSR) as the responsibility that a company has for the impact of its decisions and activities have on society and the environment.
The challenges of CSR
According to the study entitled The Challenges to CSR and Sustainable Development in 2014 (Les enjeux 2014 de la RSE et du Développement Durable)*, 68% of large corporations agree that the lack of visibility into ROI associated with CSR projects is the main reason for their lack of success. However, corporate social responsibility has never been as important as it is today.
Sustainable actions are those that contribute to the company’s improved financial performance as related to environmental and social issues. Starting in 2016, in France, all companies with more than 500 employees must officially report on their CSR and this report is to be certififed by a third party (per the Grenelle Law). This will affect more than 2,000 companies throughout the country.
