It’s my great pleasure to be the host city for the Top 14 rugby semi-finals. The two matches will be held on 16 and 17 May 2014 in the magnificent Pierre-Mauroy Stadium, which boasts a capacity of 50,000 seats. After the passage of the French team in November 2012, the new stadium will be the proud site of yet another high-level competition.
Given the historic rivalry between the British and French rugby teams, I’m betting numerous enterprises will be drawn to this pan-European sports event.
Rugby is a sport that continues to gain an increasingly broad audience, both around the pitch and the small screen. The organization of such an event in our Northern territory confirms the ambition of the French National Rugby League to continue to develop the Top 14’s popularity in the North.
These matches take on a European stature given my strategic location between Paris (60 minutes by high-speed TGV train), London (80 minutes), Brussels (35 minutes). Such quick travel times are sure to delight the fans.
It’s also the perfect occasion for Lille’s Agency to combine a high-profile sports event with an international business conference designed for enterprises from throughout France and abroad.
We invite you all to come join us next May … and after the match, let’s do brunch. So, are you more “French toast” or “bangers and mash”?
